Our first design and build pond was way back in in the early 70’s, it seems impossible it’s so long ago; however, it has given us many decades of experience to draw upon, the mistakes and the successes.
Back then we were heavily involved in private estate work, then on to major infrastructure projects, from the M40, Birmingham Relief Road, Newbury & Silverstone Bypasses, to the Channel Tunnel, Millennium Dome and more recently the Hindhead Tunnel and 2012 London Olympics we have accumulated a vast portfolio and tremendous experience in sensitively regreening the scars caused by vast civil engineering projects, particularly when water was a key component.
Our work back then often involved designing and creating many hundreds of the country’s remediation balancing pond reedbeds and constructed wetlands along motorway corridors, also environmental plantings for RSPB & WWT, the utility companies and also the coal authority to remediate mine water discharge, as well as other commercial reedbed applications and processing systems. Our wealth of experience in this field, particularly in plant selection, filter-bed design & construction as well as subsequent aftercare management put us at the forefront of a rapidly emerging industry.
More recently (before Covid) we have worked in Brazil and China on dedicated water quality projects, back here in the UK, including Scottish Islands, we have again used our water quality and environmental credentials to work with the major Water Utilities designing and building biodiverse wetlands to create a rich mosaic of habitats of many hectares. Projects often include large-scale wildflower meadow creation, of which we have an extremely large and extensive portfolio.
